Manufacturing Day 2017 – Growing Our Talent Pipeline

mfd_logo_nodate_2015_r_color-01For the fifth consecutive year, Blackford County participated in national Manufacturing Day – known as MFG Day.

We again partnered with our neighbor to the east, Jay County, on this event. A total of 128 students will spend the day exploring the following manufacturers in both communities:  Petoskey Plastics, Tru-Form Steel & Wire, BRC Rubber & Plastics, FCC, POET, TLS By Design, and John Jay Center for Learning. We were part of more than 90 events in Indiana participating in MFG DAY, and there were over 2,600 events across the continent this year.

MFG DAY is an opportunity for our employers to directly engage with the next generation of workers, and we hope that some of the students will be inspired to have further discussions about pursuing careers in local manufacturing. MFG Day creates a wave of interest in manufacturing careers among the students and we work to plug them into these opportunities through further exploration, internships, etc.

In Blackford County, we view our high school students as a critical component of the future labor force needed to serve our existing and prospective local manufacturers. To partner with us or learn more, please contact Colton Bickel at or 765-348-4944.
