Blackford County was established in 1838.  Originally built around a thriving farming community, Blackford County is now home to two main cities:  Hartford City (county seat) and Montpelier.  In addition to the towns of Shamrock Lakes and a portion of Dunkirk.

Blackford County is home to over thirty employers of varying sizes, including 3M Company. We are located only seven miles from Interstate 69, and three Indiana state roads and two railroads cross our county.

We are a non-profit organization which seeks to make Blackford County, Indiana a great place to live, learn, work, and play by being a catalyst for economic growth.
